How to Film Your Own Wedding Ceremony at These 5 Iconic Louisville & Southern Indiana Venues
Capturing the perfect wedding video doesn’t always require a traditional Louisville wedding videographer team following you around all day. For couples who want an intimate perspective without sacrificing 4K quality, the DIY approach is becoming the go-to trend.
If you’ve been wondering how to film your own wedding and get professional results, the venue you choose plays a huge role in your setup. We’ve seen incredible footage captured with our kits at some of the region’s most beautiful spots.
Here is our guide to the Louisville wedding venues we’ve filmed (including our favorite Southern Indiana gems) and how to get the best shots at each.
Muir Chapel - East End Hidden Gem
Muir Chapel Preview
Muir Chapel is a hidden gem for those who love classic, timeless architecture. Because it is a more intimate space, you don’t need a massive camera crew taking up aisle space.
Pro Tip: The grounds are beautiful and inside the chapel is warm wood tones throughout. The best position for the two cameras provided in our Story Teller Kit is front facing to the left. The second camera works well when placed on a chair in the middle just off center raised just above head height to see from your guest point of view.
The acoustics in this venue really carry. With saying that, it’s really important to use the provided mics on the bride or groom as well as on the officiant. It’ll cut down on the reverb and produce the perfect spoken words to add to your highlight.
The Foundry (Jeffersonville, IN)
The Foundry Wedding in Jeffersonville, Indiana
While we love both sides of this venue, The Refinery South offers a stunning industrial-chic backdrop that looks incredible in high definition. The expansive floor plan gives you plenty of room to play with. The views throughout the space are majestic. You’ll have lots of room for either a ceremony or reception so as key as good placement is for the ceremony, make sure you you move the camera so you can feel the size of the space and highlight it’s many textures.
Pro Tip: When you film a wedding ceremony here, take advantage of the high ceilings and clean lines. Position a "safety camera" at the back of the room for a wide shot of the entire installation, and use the kit’s wireless mic on the officiant to capture every word over the venue's acoustics.
Zion Hill Events - Crestwood at it’s Finest
Zion Hill Events Wedding
Zion Hill is all about the view and the natural light. Whether you are inside or out, the "golden hour" here is a videographer’s dream.
Pro Tip: If you are filming outdoors, the 3-axis gimbal in the My Replay Kit is essential. Even if your "designated guest videographer" has a shaky hand while walking down the aisle to capture your exit, the footage will stay buttery smooth. Move inside and film out through the barn doors. Film from the loft down to the dance floor or dinner setting. Use the Replay Kit camera to film walking down the stairs for the perfect reveal of the space.
The View at Plum Creek
The View at Plum Creek Ceremony
As the name suggests, the vistas here are the star of the show. This is a venue where you definitely want to capture the scale of the landscape. Inside, the natural light dances throughout the space in different areas throughout the day so a shot at 2pm looks different than 6pm and different once again at 9pm. Time is it’s own different angle.
Pro Tip: The View at Plum Creek offers a stunning, contemporary backdrop with its warm wood-slat walls and clean, modern lines. To get the most out of your My Replay Kit in this specific space, keep these visual clues in mind:
Nail the Symmetry: The wood-paneled feature wall at the altar creates a strong vertical line. Position your main "Safety Camera" exactly in the center of the aisle. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3’s gimbal will keep these architectural lines perfectly straight, making your DIY footage look like a high-end architectural shoot.
Managing Indoor Depth: Because this venue has a deep, wide layout, guests in the back can feel far away. Use the kit’s second camera at a 45-degree angle near the front pews [09:48]. This allows you to cut between a wide "room shot" and an intimate "close-up" of the vow exchange without needing a cameraman to move around and distract guests.
Clear Vows in a Great Room: Large, beautiful spaces like this can sometimes carry ambient noise from the HVAC or guest movement. As seen in the ceremony [13:10], placing the wireless microphone transmitter on the officiant is non-negotiable here. It ensures that the emotional "I do's" are crisp and clear, cutting through any room echo.
The "Exit Shot" Stability: The walk back up the aisle at Plum Creek is a long one! This is the perfect moment to have a designated guest pick up the camera and walk backward. The 3-axis stabilization will handle the movement perfectly, capturing the pure joy of your first moments as a married couple with zero "camera shake."
By utilizing the natural geometry of The View at Plum Creek and the discreet size of the Replay Kit, you get a cinematic wedding film that feels professional while remaining completely personal.

Chapel in the Woods (Southeast Christian Church)
Chapel in the Woods at Southeast Christian Wedding Ceremony
This venue offers a serene, woodland atmosphere that feels miles away from the city. The lighting can be tricky with the surrounding trees and stained glass, but the Osmo Pocket 3’s low-light capabilities handle it beautifully. The even light can actually add to the day and ceremony as it’s filmed.
Pro Tip: For the ceremony, place your audio transmitter near the musicians or the pulpit. In a quiet, sacred space like the Chapel in the Woods, high-quality audio is just as important as the 4K video.
