Frequently Asked Questions

Four steps to a My Replay kit wedding video

Using friends or family instead of a traditional videographer can absolutely work—but only if you remove as much guesswork as possible. High-quality wedding films don’t happen by accident; they happen through smart gear choices, simple systems, and clear instructions. That’s exactly what My Replay Offers. Here’s a proven framework that consistently delivers cinematic results, even with non-professionals behind the camera.

🎥 Video Quality: Make “Good” the Default

1. Use cameras that think for the user

Best options for non-professionals:

  • DJI Pocket 3 – 1-inch sensor, face tracking, outstanding stabilization

  • Automatic exposure + continuous autofocus = fewer mistakes

  • Shoots 4K at 60fps, giving editors flexibility for smooth motion

📊 Why this matters:
Over 72% of unusable wedding footage is lost due to poor focus or shaky shots—not lighting.

2. Stabilization is non-negotiable

Shaky video instantly looks amateur.

Use at least one of the following:

  • Built-in gimbal cameras (like Pocket 3)

  • Lightweight monopods or table stands

  • Lock-off shots during ceremony and speeches

🎯 Pro tip: A locked-off wide shot is the editor’s safety net—and saves emotional moments when someone steps out of frame.

3. Assign camera roles (very simple)

Instead of “everyone film everything,” assign tasks:

  • Camera A: Ceremony wide shot

  • Camera B: Reactions + aisle walk +center camera

This avoids duplicate footage and missed moments.

🎤 Audio Quality: Use the mics! They work.

4. Never rely on camera audio alone

What works every time:

  • Wireless lav mics (DJI Mic 2 or equivalent)

  • One mic on the officiant

  • One mic on the groom (captures both voices

📊 Fact:
Couples rank vows as the #1 most emotionally important part of their wedding film—yet it’s the most commonly ruined by poor audio.

6. Provide a 5-minute quick-start guide

Your helpers don’t need film school—just clarity.

Cover only:

  • How to turn the camera on

  • How to check battery and storage

  • Where to stand

  • When not to move

💡 Avoid giving “creative direction.” Consistency beats creativity every time.

7. Test everything before the wedding day

Schedule a 5-minute test run:

  • Turn on all cameras

  • Clip mics on

  • Record 30 seconds

  • Playback audio with headphones

This alone prevents 90% of avoidable issues.

🎞️ Editing Is Where It All Comes Together

And it’s included with your Replay Kit!

Even with simple filming, professional editing is what creates a cinematic result:

  • Color correction to match cameras

  • Audio cleanup and balancing

  • Music licensing + emotional pacing

  • Story structure that highlights real moments

This is why couples who use curated gear + professional editing consistently get films that rival traditional videography—often at 50–75% less cost.

Final Takeaway

To ensure high-quality audio and video with non-professionals:

✔️ Use forgiving, stabilized cameras
✔️ Capture clean wireless audio with backups
✔️ Assign clear, simple filming roles
✔️ Test gear before the wedding
✔️ Rely on professional editing to elevate everything

Just hit record! 🎬

How does My Replay Kit work?

A simple DIY wedding video service: we send high-quality gear so friends and family can film your day. They capture the important moments, and our team edits the footage into a beautiful wedding video. A budget-friendly alternative to a traditional videographer, ideal for couples in Kentucky and nearby areas who want a personal, candid feel.

Is this more affordable than a traditional videographer?

Absolutely. Hiring a professional wedding videographer can be very expensive. In Kentucky the average price of a wedding videographer is $1,600-3,000. You’re paying for their time on-site, often a crew, specialized camera gear you may or may not need, and often food plus their travel expenses. With our Storyteller kit, you save that cost but still get a professional highlight film, full ceremony, and raw footage. It is a perfect option for couples in Louisville and surrounding areas who want to capture their memories without breaking the budget. Did I mention we are less than $1,000 for FULL DAY COVERAGE?

Is the camera equipment hard to use?

Not at all. We prioritize simplicity. Every kit includes an easy-to-read instruction card that explains exactly what to do. Your guests can pick up the cameras and start filming immediately without any technical skills. There are no settings to change, no cards to swap. The only extra step some couples need for their amazing wedding day is to use the included battery pack to add a little recharge to the batteries. 15 minutes of charge can provide up to an additional hour.

When is the best time to charge the cameras if needed?

Top off the batteries with a little charge between the ceremony and reception. Often both cameras won’t need a charge so one can be charging while the other is filming during cocktail hour. Did you notice before dinner that both cameras were low? Charging the cameras during dinner is the perfect time to top them off and get them ready for a full night of dance floor action!

How do I get the kit?

We handle the kit delivery to ensure it arrives safely at your door before your event. Whether you are getting married locally in Louisville or nearby, we make sure you have the cameras in hand with plenty of time to spare. UPS is our shipping agent of choice and if available, we’ll do a courier delivery. You might even get to see me, Chuck, the day before to answer any last minute questions. If something happens and your kit isn’t delivered the day before, no worries. I’ll personally deliver to you. We have a 100% delivery rate and that’s not going to change.

Do we meet before the wedding to go over details?

Yes. We schedule a brief 10-15 minute meeting (phone, in-person, video- whatever works for you) the week prior or week of your wedding. We use this time to review the process, walk through the instruction card, and answer any questions you have to ensure you feel completely prepared. And the best thing, you can invite anyone you want. Anyone that may film, your wedding planner, maybe even the venue host.

What if we need help on the actual wedding day?

We offer full day-of support. If you or your guests have any trouble or questions while filming, we are just a phone call or text away to assist you instantly. Call me 502-537-9349

What happens after the wedding?

Once the celebration is over, simply pack the equipment back into the box and use the included prepaid return label to ship it back to us. Kits must be dropped off by 5pm Monday or a $75 per day fee will be accrued. Upon receipt of your Replay kit, our editors will then download all the footage and start creating your wedding video. You don’t have to worry about organizing files or memory cards—we handle everything. We also make multiple copies. This isn’t our first time working events. Your footage is safe with us.

Why is this better than just using cell phone videos?

While cell phone clips are fun, our cameras are designed specifically for video. They handle low light at receptions better and have stabilization to keep the footage smooth. Plus, you won't have to chase down clips from ten different people after the wedding. We combine all the footage filmed by friends and family into one cohesive, professionally edited movie.
